Ballerina Room

The kids came home today from "Camp Ninny & Grandy" and got to see their new bedrooms.  I think it's safe to say that everyone was pleased with the results!  The girls' room was a little tricky because we (ahem . . . Marshall) did not want to paint over the stripes so we were already starting with a pretty busy palate.  On top of that, the room is wall to wall with furniture, but it's all necessary and we're running out of places to put everything in this house so we just made it work.  Anna is really into dancing these days, and thanks to Pinterest, I found some fun ways to incorporate that into her new girly bedroom.

Here's the view when you first walk into the room.  Notice that this is the same red dresser you saw in the big kids' old room.

Here's a closeup of the picture hanging next to Anna's bed.  They are shots of her twirling in her recital costume.

Oh yeah, and the beds each have a tutu bedskirt.  Not too hard to make and pretty cheap as well!

The yellow thing at the bottom corner of Anna's bed is part of Lucy's changing table.  For some reason I forgot to take a picture of this whole section of the room.

The baby pictures of our family members that were in the old nursery found a new home above the window.

Not a great picture, but the glare makes it almost impossible to get a good one of anything on this wall.  Again, thanks to Pinterest, I found a free ballerina font and made these canvases to hang along Lucy's side.  Since they are over her bed I didn't want to use glass. just in case she knocked them off.

I just used scrapbook paper and the extra tulle from the bedskirts to cover the old bow holder (that had an "A" on it and didn't match the room) and make a new one.  It's hanging on the back of the door.

Closeup of the paper pom poms (Anna calls them flowers).  Also, super cheap and really easy to make!

Just try to ignore the ugly blue bed rail.  It's the only one we have and it's definitely a necessity!

A shot of the door.  See, I told you this room was full of furniture!

I hate that I forgot to get a picture of the other corner, but you still get the idea.  Anna loves her new ballerina room and has been upstairs twirling all evening!
